To quickly open the Page Setup dialogue box
- double click on the dark gray area on the ruler
To show / hide the non-printing characters using the keyboard
- Hold both the Ctrl + Shift keys and tap the number '8'
To insert a Special Symbol, such as the Copyright, Registered or Trade Mark symbols
Sometimes, when working on a document, you may need to use a special symbol in the document. Three of the most common symbols are: - the copyright mark, which is a small letter C surrounded by a circle - the registered mark, which is a small letter R surrounded by a circle - the trade mark, which is small letters TM and slightly raised All these symbols can easily be added to your document.
- Go to the Insert menu, select Symbol.
- In the Symbol dialogue box you can choose the symbol you want on either the Symbols tab or the Special Characters tab.
- Click on the symbol you would like to use, then click on the Insert button then click the Close button.
To quickly change the case of text from upper to lower to title case
- select (highlight) the text, hold the Shift key and tap the F3 key
- repeat this to change from upper to lower to title case
If text on the page is in a table format and you want to convert it to text without a table:
- highlight the text in the table
- from the Table menu, select Convert Table to Text
- choose one of the options - using Paragraph Marks is the most common one used for text
