Module 1: Basic Concepts of Information Technology
Knowledge of main parts of a computer and network. Also includes storage, software, working environment, health and safety, viruses, copywrite and data protection.
Module 2: Using the Computer and managing files
Using the Windows screen (such as changing screen savers, background settings, icons, folders, waste basket, minimise, maximise etc.) Using Explorer.
Module 3: Word Processing
Basic Word Processing to produce standard documents, to include functions: Open, create, save, formatting, headers, footers, page setup, printing, tables, mail merge etc.
Module 4: Spreadsheets
Basic Spreadsheet functions to produce standard documents, to include functions: Open, create, save, formatting, insert/delete rows and columns, sort data, basic formulas, document setup. Printing Charts, graphs etc.

Module 5: Database
Basic database functions to produce standard document to include functions: Open, create, save, design and plan a database, table design, modifying data, creating forms, retrieve information, queries, forms etc.
Module 6: Presentation
Basic presentation functions to produce standard documents, to include functions; open create, save, modify slides, formatting, add graphics and charts, slide setup, printing, slide animations, presentation delivery etc.
Module 7: Information and Communication
Use the Internet to provide information, using the address bar, search engines, links. Create bookmarks, favourites, printing. Use email to send and receive information, add addresses and information to address books/contact lists etc.
Module 8: Application Specific
Further in depth knowledge of the first 7 modules for an NVQ level 2 equivalent
